What Can You Do To Help Fight Crime?
Help Inmates Restore Their Self-Respect
With a Common Sense Moral Code!
The current prison population is growing at a rate 13 times faster than that of the general population and has exceeded most facility maximums in every state. In fact, since 1980 the nation's prison population has tripled, and our country now boasts more than 1.5 million people behind bars in both state and federal prisons, including juvenile halls and youth authority complexes. According to the Justice Department, 1995 saw the biggest inmate population growth ever in U.S. history, with over 89,000 new prisoners in American jails.
CriminonT, which means, "no crime" is a non-profit international organization dedicated to helping prison inmates and juvenile delinquents once again become productive and honest members of society. Criminon uses a common sense moral code called "The Way to Happiness" written by author and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard.
The Way to Happiness Course, teaches a moral code based on common sense. The 21-precept moral code is done with thorough drills for each precept. This enables the inmates to realize why their past conduct led to harm, and why moral conduct will lead to success and happiness in the future.
The key to Criminon's success lies in practical application. Nothing is taught that is not immediately applied. Every inmate must utilize The Way to Happiness precepts in their daily lives, one at a time, until such practice makes it clear why moral behavior is the only route to personal redemption, and to a rejuvenation of personal decency.
To date, Criminon has brought this course to nearly 600 jails and prisons across the world, and is delivered to over 1500 inmates every week. The Criminon program has restored self-respect and respect for others in the toughest of incarcerated inmates, and it has accomplished this with the most troubled gang members of the inner cities.
Here are some examples:
"Man, I've gotten a better outlook on life and a means to better understand how people want to be treated - the way I would want to be treated myself. I wish I could've known about this course a lot sooner! I would recommend this course to everyone, because I think a lot of us tend to think about ourselves only and not about others. I hope what I'm saying will help someone else. I used to be a criminal, but now I'm not and don't know how to thank Criminon enough for the opportunity of going through this course. Thanks."
- A.R. Macon C.I. Oglethorpe, GA.
"Before taking the Way to Happiness Course I had a low self esteem and I didn't have any type of respect for myself or anyone else. Today I can share hope with my fellow inmates and love and respect them as I do myself. I still have a lot to learn by continuing to take the Criminon courses. Everyday I try to shed light in someone's life so that they can smile and pass it on. I hope everyone takes this course because it can change your life if you let it."
- F.B. Dayton, TX.
